This week, Antwon Rose, a 17 year old young man was shot and killed by the police in my hometown, Pittsburgh, Pennsylania.
2 years ago, he wrote this poem. I wanted to share because this voice is an important voice - a voice that to me represents so many of the young black generation that I have so far had the opportunity to work with and one that encourages me to reflect, to humanize, to connect, and to remember that I never know how the person sitting next to me, regardless of color, regardless of sex, regardless of origin may be feeling inside. I never know what they confront on a daily basis. How can I?
